IS SOOOOO STRESSFUL!
To sell or not to sell, now that is the question. I waiver back and forth. "Staging!" Oh my G-d!!! It must be Real Estate Agent's favorite word. Clear this, get rid of that, ditch the clutter. "What clutter I say - those are pictures of my cubs...that isn't clutter...that is my life!"
So on that note, I have been journalling like a fiend attempting to come to the right decision with the right Real Estate Agent "for me." So far, I have burned through two. Ugh! Number Three is a promise and a charm I've heard. I've also heard "bad luck comes in three's!" lol This isn't helping! The best way I've dealt with this is to create, to write, to sleep and to (get ready for it) eat sugar (booooooooo) - but another lol.
Hope you enjoy today's art - it is a real look into the process I've "endured" in this house sale busi(y)-ness!
The following piece came to me so clearly and so starkly for what I have been feeling in the last month while having that FOR SALE sign on my lawn. I could not deny the lyrics - all of them - were screaming in my ears as soon as I took my stencil and started laying down the lines in every which direction (grid lines.)

FOOTLOOSE
I've been working so hard
I'm punching my card
Eight hours for what?
Oh, tell me what I got
I've got this feeling
That time's just holding me down
I'll hit the ceiling or else I'll tear up this town
Tonight I gotta cut
Loose, footloose kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise pull me off a my knees
Jack, get back c'mon before we crack
Lose your blues everybody cut footloose
And you're playing so cool
Obeying every rule
I
You're burning, yearning for songs
Somebody to tell you
That life ain't passing you by
I'm trying to tell you
It will if you don't even try
You can fly if you'd only cut
Loose, footloose kick off your Sunday shoes
Oowhee, Marie shake it, shake it for me
Whoa, Milo c'mon, c'mon let's go
Lose your blues everybody cut footloose
Cut footloose
Cut footloose
Cut footloose
We got to turn me around
And put your
Now take a hold of the phone
Whoa, I'm turning it loose
Loose, footloose kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise pull me off a my knees
Jack, get back c'mon before we crack
Lose your blues now everybody cut footloose
Loose, footloose kick off your Sunday shoes
Please, Louise pull me off a my knees
Jack, get back c'mon before we crack
Lose your blues
Everybody cut everybody cut
Everybody cut everybody cut
Everybody cut everybody cut
Everybody everybody cut footloose

ReplyDeleteHi Samara
ReplyDeleteI have also heard power of 3 will set one free (that's from "Charmed" TV series) and needs a bit of magic for it to work (LOL).
Love the way you always let your emotions hang out. You would not even have to write a word in your blog because your creations speak for themselves.

Very nice work with exquisite colors, yes, indecision brings us dark! regards
ReplyDeleteOh I know these feelings well! When I sold a house I would interview several realtors before I made my choice. Went with my gut. If you have already had one and pick another within the company they are loyal to each other and won't give you the best service. However if you pick their competition they will try harder!!Some people have lots of listing and let them ride....make sure someone will work hard for you and not just look for that double ending...where they sell the house to one of their clients and get double commission instead of working to get the house sold by anyone. Put feelers out to see why people like a realtor or not... try a google search for complaints!! Remember they are sales people!!
ReplyDeleteYour pages are rich with emotion!!
Good luck

Staging is an awful word isn't it... I kind of like seeing people's bits and bobs when I go to a showing... I like to see how people have lived and that they have happy memories in the house and am always a touch sad when it is all de cluttered and impersonal... hope number three is indeed the charm...xx
ReplyDeleteDeciding whether to move is such a hard decision. But keep doing those journaling pages and they will bring to the point of decision. Love how playing on paper can do that.
ReplyDeleteMoving is definitely a stressful event in my mind. I believe it's a blessing as artists to have a way to escape and relief some of that stress. You appear to have done so beautifully based on those two colorful pages that you shared on this post.
ReplyDeleteYour journal really depicts the inner struggle going on! I love the utter honesty here and how you shared so many links here. I must thank you at this point because I got a lot of inspiration from your awesome links!
ReplyDeleteAbout choice, yes, its true...struggles are inevitable. I really struggled to hold on after my mother lost a very hard battle with cancer. Widowed at 36, she was my strength. She chose to sail bravely.
And, if it's any consolation, we sold our house of 40 years before moving into an apartment.
A small suggestion, if you add an email I am sure you will get more interaction from your readers. I was a "no reply" blogger until Adrienne pointed it out. After I changed, it seems better! :-)
fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining Art JOurnal Journey again
Hi Samara,
ReplyDeleteLovely soulful pages, they speak for you.
So where are you moving to??? : ) For thirty some years I've been wanting to move to the countryside ...haven't yet....still waiting. My mom just sold her house yesterday , a relief but now we have to find her a place, another stressful journey, hopefully easier than selling her home. The agent (Mark Lafleur) she got had originally sold her the house and then she hired him to sell it for her; he used every available option to sell her place, including making other agents help in the sale and he did it in record time with the price she was looking for. He's on the Quebec side so wouldn't be any good to you I don't think.
I hope you find your direction and it's always such a high finding a new place and making a home. I wish you lots of luck!!!

Preparing a house for selling can be quite stressful but staging is necessary to the process to make the home more appealing to potential buyers. While photos of your family make it homey, the idea of de-cluttering is to give buyers an idea what they can do with the space without having your personal touches influence theirs. -Calvin Mordarski@City Block Team
ReplyDeleteLovely artwork! Thanks so much for your super kind comment on my blog. It really made my day!
