I AM SO EXCITED!

PERHAPS A MOVE FOR my last nester and I!
(shhh don't want to jinx it)

Yesterday I saw the cutest, tiniest, sweetest little house with a gorgeous backyard that backed onto a huge park, that backed onto a municipal parkland, that backed onto a track, that backed onto a sideroad!  AKA - "nothing" in site but trees trees trees and colorful swings, junglegyms, and see saws *which I will be on first chance I get when all the kiddies are napping!

So tonight my house, that sides onto 100 acres and backs onto 100 acres, has this honkin' pain in the butt 30 x 40 x 30 metal 200 amp workshed goes for sale.  WAHOO - no more maintenance, no more steel huge pain in the %^$#& to look at that every single trade that comes here drools at while I go "thumbs down!"

Wish me luck, say a prayer, send a thought, do a rain dance, climb a tree, sing a song - whatever it is you do to make things work for the greatest good....pleeeeeez.  My last child is outski in 2 years and I need a cubby that I can call home and I think this doll house I am putting an offer in this evening just might be it!

On that note, I think I will have my studio in the bathtub! lol

LOVIES,
Samara

I decided it was time to get brave and combine the stamping, the scrapbooking, the card-making all in one piece!

This is all done with pastels

I seem to be stuck on birds and flowers right now, although next week will be different; I am taking a lettering course right now so my art will be all about lettering...how's that for a buzz kill! haha

ROMANCING THE CANVAS...

WOW AM I CONFUSED  @#$)(*#$&  !!!

ALTHOUGH I MAY CHANGE MY BLOG NAME TO
"ROMANCING THE CANVAS"
I LIKIEEEE!

ok friends, this week i was sure i was finished, complete, over, "i was breaking-up" with mixed media and paper.

but, oh man, there is always a but...

today

is a new day.

need i say more.

i am a womyn.

Today I have a collection of art I created this week (as I always do on Fridays - inundate you with a week's worth of work) and as you will see, most is on canvas, having gone into a big boycott of paper! But, as they said on Hogan's Heroes "I see Nossing!"

I hope you enjoy.
Lovies,
Forever Fickle with no apparent apology
Oy!
Samara
p.s. G-d please speak to me a.s.a.p. re this conundrum as it was you that joyfully got me to this place called mixed media from my cards in the first place (said lovingly G-d.)

Do you want me to buy canvas G-d?

Do you want me to buy paper G-d?

Hello?  Hello?

So

CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP and.....

...do the Hokey Pokey and that's what it's all about!

I love this time of year; the birds are chirping all around the farmland, in the morning they wake up the neighbourhood as if to say "hey folks, make haste, not waste!"  Get up, start your gardening so that we can eat those worms!  It is exactly like this time of the biblical year - just after the rising - the time of life, the time of feast, the time of celebration.  Even the birds are feeling it!  So why not make them whimsical and whacky and show how excited they are that their hearts too are reincarnated to yet another spring, and to a cleansing and to a new start with the passing over of evil and the rising of goodness!

And this was a week of birdies with Tam from LIFE BOOK 2013.  It was so fun.  I don't usually find my art experience "fun."  I find it intense, deep, vulnerable and irresistibly enticing to run to my studio the second I wake (usually moments after 3:58 a.m.  So I'd like to share my birdies with you...most are variations of owls, but some birdies also.  I went on after Tam's class and created more because I loved the adventure of it all so much.  Thanks LIFE BOOK! Love You TAM, you groovy funk loving nature bound bohemian womyn!

PRODUCTS USED:  Literally everything I own!  The stitching is from a (Husqvarna VIKING E20 Machine put on S and is the Crosstitch E  Thread (Multicolored Sulky Thread Mercerized 100% Cotton - made in Italy - comes in a huge variety of mixed colors and is great for quilting!

These are the other pieces of work that I have been up to this week.  Enjoy!
I've just been fooling around with lots of different things in my drawers.
This one was from my doll kit from a company that is now out of business unfortunately.  I thought they were great!  I got wonderful letters from the 1900's and maps etc from them, plus 1/2" of french Encyclopedia Papers in the kit.

Chipboard (Basic Grey) Rollers (Stampin' Up!) Stamps (Inque)

Dry Pastels (Daler Rowney)

The Time Set (Basic Grey)

Watercolors (Daler Rowney) Neo Pastels (Caron D'Ache) White Pen (Fabric Pen) Stencil (Mr. Huey) Black Pen (Sharpie) Dimensional Pearls (Adirondack)

Watercolors (Caron D'Ache) Supracolor II (Caron D'Ache) Paper (French Dictionary Stamps (Baby Stamp Sets - Generic) Swirl (Bo Bunny Paper Collage (Bo Bunny)

and last but not least, I have begun a piece to hold all my birdies!  It should be finished for next Friday's post.  So far, I have only sketched (in white) on a black gesso background what I think I would like to see.

I am in the midst of getting a gallon sample of PVA and in the meantime my printer gave me a bottle of the glue they use for notepads to try out as a gel medium.  It adhered the collage paper better than anything I have ever used before - and the paper was very thick (basic grey.)  But when it came to adding water, my brush stuck!  So, in terms of using bookbinding glue as a gel medium, it was an epic fail!  I'll wait patiently for the PVA, which I am told by the wonderful sales rep is a fantastic product for a gel medium.  I think he will have a customer for life!
