UP AND AT 'EM!

And this is how I was woken up every day of my childhood.  The blind was snapped up, or the draped pulled and my mom, admittedly not a great singer, would sing "Good Morning To You..."

It was painful, sun shining in, sleepy eyes, body all snuggled into a 6" duvet.

Who in their right mind could wake up "cheery" - as was my mother's plan - to...THIS!

The Military Training must have caught hold.  As soon as my peepers open, I am "boing" up and out of bed, with a smile on my face at World Record Speed that would put Usain Bolt to shame! And how can I do other than "snap those window blinds up" and sing this Morning Ritual that I loathed.  However, each generation has to do their own little spin on things.  Mine is sung in (wait for it)

OPERA!

And, by the way, ask my children, and housemates and next door neighbour.  They will very proudly not tell you,  America's Got Talent, and The Voice have nothing on me!!!

I only now wait to see what version my own children will sing.  I dearly fear Rap, or Electronica or Gawd Forbid and Lord Help my Grandbabies...Heavy Metal!

MY RENDITION

So remember, tomorrow morning, when you are feeling all lazy and sleepy and just turning over and going back to sleep,  I am there, with my OPERETO voice, singing just for "you",,,

IKE'S WORLD CHALLENGE - GIRL POWER

GIRLS ARE POWERFUL - THERE IS NO QUESTIONING THAT!
And this Challenge is dedicated to those girls who have lived with, been challenged by, beaten the odds and braved up to the daily onset of Cancer...and I add to their families and friends...who are never ever separated far from this reality.
Ike has yearly made a Challenge on www.ikesworldchallengeblog.blogspot.ca (here) dedicated to GIRLS - I love this.  This year being no different.
And we have options.
To honor girls in every way, which I have chosen to, including the strength that stands right beside this word and this day and this often way to long unending or painful transition called Cancer.
Being a Hospital Minister/Chaplain, I have never shied away from the Word, finding it does not do justice to a person, be it a man or woman and in general a pet...unless the individual asked me to.
If I seem brazen, thoughtless, insensitive - which I definitely do not consider myself to be - I hope I have provided the context for that...it is my daily familiarity, my walking this path for 30 years with various individuals from infancy to the most elderly - and their families.
I have been blessed to not walk this path personally - so I know not of what I talk from the personal perspective - only many of you know that.
Bless you a thousand times over.
You are brave.
You are my hero.
Many will hate to be that.
Many will know they are that.

FRIGHTFUL & DELIGHTFUL

When you sit in front of your desk, and wonder when your creative spark will ignite, it is a daunting experience?

How long do you sit?

What do you do?

How many times do you walk away - then walk back - trusting your mojo will return.

Well, it has been 3 weeks and not a nudge, not a niggling, not a thought when I walked past my studio.

And it was scary!

BUT TONIGHT EVERYTHING CHANGED...

I sat and couldn't get my butt off my chair.  It was exhilarating.  It was a feeling of disbelief.  Seeing each and every piece of paper, bling, fabric I laid down was like counting time on a stop watch.  The absolute best!

Years ago, what seems like another lifetime ago,  I made cards.  It is ironic this is what came back to me.  A memory of making cards.  Digging into supplies, drawers, cartons that I have not looked at for years.  How fun!  So this is what I came up with.

FRIGHTFUL AND DELIGHTFUL!

I hope you enjoy "the new look."

As I was saying...I am in love with this Postal Donkey...especially when our Postal System has talked of striking ALL summer (UGH) and scaring the begeeeezus out of all of us.  I feel for the poor guys and gals who work within the system - it must be atrocious to have the system turn against you in the ways we hear from friends who work within it - but man is it scary when you rely on something as sacred as mail!
You know, email just doesn't cut it when you are an ART HOARDER (THIS was the point I was getting at) - pretty desperate eh!
I hope you love these images as much as I did.
Enjoy!
