SENTIMENTAL SUNDAY'S KICK OFF BLOG HOP!

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S
&
IF THESE CARDS COULD TALK...(me)

Well, we have a big treat for you today!  Not only is there SURPRISE CANDY AND LOTS OF IT ALL PACKAGED UP FOR YOU BY THE DESIGNERS AND HIDDEN to celebrate the Sentimental Sunday's 2012 New Year's Day Blog Hop and New DT Team - yes CANDY (to qualify you MUST leave a comment and become a follower - just let me know if you are already a follower of mine in your comment,) "YOU" are participating in.....drum roll please....

AND LOTS OF HIDDEN CANDY!

Now, THAT is exciting!!!

Now for logistics and my entry to the challenge...

You should have arrived here from Jennipher's Blog -  PAPER EXPRESSIONS.              If you didn't arrive from Jennipher's Blog, and would like to join in the HOP, or somehow got lost in the blog (as usually happens to me - especially when there is so much CANDY being offered by everyone in the hop) please start again at the Sentimental Sundays Challenge Blog.  Just CLICK their name that you just passed to get there.  Now for my....

ANYTHING GOES - Plus a Sentiment Challenge for this week

This is the LONGEST Picture Log I have ever posted in the History of my blog.  I wanted you to see precisely how this card was done.  I saw this type of card in a store and studied it and studied it.  It took me ages to figure it out.  Once I did, I decided it was important to describe it, as best I could visually, which is the way "I" learn.  I apologize if anyone already knows how to do this.  I didn't.  Thanks for tolerating this LONGGGGG picture post.
The initial 3D

Turned the other way so you can see the other end's paper

This is "Simon and Skating Donita"
I cut two strips of Very Ice Resembling Paper and glued it within the first 2 layers (explanation of those to follow) and placed "Peyton" on top of the first one and "Skating Donita" on top of the Ice on the 2nd layer.

And this is my fav little cutie pie "Slippy the Penguin."  He just had to be part of this!  Above is my sentiment.
See how I cut around the design of the CTMH paper so that the 2nd layer's paper, cut ONLY for the outside effect (all are mounted on cardboard) can be seen.

Yummalicious!

OK, the goods are coming up here.  These are "accordian" pieces of paper scored at 1/4" intervals and folded back and forth, back and forth.

I had to decide how high I wanted each layer to be.  You can see the 1st to 2nd layer is twice the height as the 2nd to 3rd, allowing the the roll of the ice rink.  My 2nd layer ice rink only has a tiny role.

This is from the long side view.  The ends are really the stabilizers, the middle is what holds the height apart for whatever you want to put in between the layers; how much room you need. Notice the accordians in dark blue and that I have glued the same direction fold end with each one.

This is a top(ish) view so that you can see the second layer is a big cut out circle, only for the effect of the ends and to hold the rink and to allow you to see the paper pattern at the back, which is a compliment to the front paper.

And this pretty much shows the whole thing in full layering (gosh - I should be able to do Photoshop - if only I could TOUCH it!)

And again, from the othe end.

And full circle to the main card.

We hope you will join in our Challenge this week, remember - ANYTHING GOES (just what we like!!!) and remember to use a sentiment!  We truly have amazing sponsors, and many of them!  And to make things a little more interesting and exciting, there are hidden prizes being offered.

So make sure you visit each stop along the way and enter your comments.

The comments will be randomly selected for the hidden prizes, and there are many - so leave comments on every blog if you want a good chance of winning the lot of hidden candy put together for each separate prize.

Your next stop on the hop is Nicole Mullen - MULLEN IMAGES.  Remember, if you get lost, just go back to Sentimental Sundays Challenge Blog and you will find your way; just remember the last blog you were at.

The hop ends on Saturday, January 7th at midnight EST.

The winners will be announced on the Sentimental Sundays Challenge Blog on Tuesday, January 10th so don't forget to mark your calendar and check in!  You don't want to miss out to see if you won some of the Goodies!

So hippity hop over to the next stop and good luck with all your comments!

Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment and become a follower.  If you have the time, let me know if you were one of the lucky winners!!!

Lovingly created using:
Paper: CTMH, Dollar Store
Pens: Copics (of course - you know me and my copics by now, love at first color)
Scissors:  for this ANYTHING GOES by Sentimental Sundays Blog Hop - scissors were absolutely instrumental - so was glue and they were both Stampin' Up!
Backing: Cardboard given to me by my printer
Accordian Folds Paper: CTMH
