NOW THAT IS DIFFERENT!

LOOKS A BIT SKETCHY TO ME!!!

It was time to try drawing....EEK!  Double EEK!!  I am such an abstract-or, boheme-ian, out of the-box, it has always felt impossible for me to draw a "thing" other than in University when we had to do the apple and orange and vase and nudes.  Yuppers, the nudes were something else...especially when one of the womyn was the wife of my children's father's friend.

So, yesterday - while watching WALDEN (drool) on Two and a Half Men I decided to Sketch a Character.  Of course she had to have big eyes, this I knew.  Beyond that...she's...ummmm....

Well, I like the colors!  lol   COURAGE (as the early settlers in Canada said, while putting the flag into the ground) COURAGE!!!

Lovies,  Samara

I do Lovvvve the eyes!

Well...I must say, I feel the eyes are the only part of the sketch I am attracted to repeat.

OH, Did I mention that I....

BE HAPPY DAMN IT!

IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO HAVE A HAPPY CHILDHOOD
~Claudia Black Ph.D, M.S.W

Sometimes our Mixed Media Art is "pretty,"  Sometimes it is "ugly,"  Sometimes it is "curious."  But the reality is it is always OURS.

And the JOY of Mixed Media is that it is DEEP and it is about LEARNING and it is about FREEDOM of EXPRESSION, whether that be with the pen, the marker, the gels, the knives, the paints and on and on and on.

The best part of Mixed Media is that it gets to be REAL.  Yes, really REAL - real in its HURT, real in its LOVE, real in its QUESTIONS and real in its STATEMENTS.

On that note...

To free yourself from the past, you must break the rules of silence and compliance. C.B

One needs to walk through the pain,
not over it,
not around it.
You never again have to walk through it alone. C.B.

Feelings are from your heart and what your heart wants to tell you. C.B.

Feelings are to be listened to = they are cues and signals that indicate where you are and what you need. C.B.

Yesterday, this picture came out of me.  Bizarre as it was...it was in front of me...it's a big picture - I advise you to take it in slowly lest it trigger you.  It is truly a "yester-year" picture for me - but up the spiral of life we always go if we are being authentic and sharing the truth!  Art can be that way when we least expect it!  Mixed Media is a place where I've learned this is what authenticity is all about in the artist's way...

GREAT WORKSHOPS...

WILLOWING - LIFE BOOK 2013

WOW, there are some really fantastic workshops on Tam's LIFE BOOK 2013.  I will put up some of the pieces I created.  I've been watching the videos, taking notes and then meditating on them.

Days later, after the workshop and after I've read my notes a few times and they have sunk into my own style, I create my piece.

Below is a pic I created from the teachings of Monica Zuniga.  I recommend LIFE BOOK highly.  Phew, what a thoroughly charismatic group of teachers lined up! Thanks Tam for putting this together.  Oh, btw, there are over 1500 students registered and taking Tam's year long workshop!

Thanks for taking a look at my fun!

Lovies,
Samara

2012 ART STILL SPEAKING TO ME!

Hmmm A DILEMMA

I signed up for many 2012 art segments that are L O N G while I was S H O R T on time.  I am going to complete (my New Year's Resolution) these classes before moving onto the 2012 art classes that I signed up for.  So my lovelies, what you will see will be, in honesty, named 2012 art - in order to honor the teachers.  Enjoy!  I sure have loved the process of transformation inherent in each piece, many still in progress.  LOVIES, Samara

These pictures are a collage of my fav. pics from a home magazine.  The next two  pics are my personal favorites of the entire page.  I loved the pink-ness and the glasses and the fruit water!
I'd say I enjoy these two more than the finished product - isn't that the way sometimes..."we love a part better than the whole"...great all time metaphor of life!

I loved seeing the pics that I put on the bench as well in the reflection of the mirror (and also hanging the window from the house in the midst of the trees with the hanging basket in the mirror as well.)  Perhaps my dream garden!

For anyone who knows about the micro-living in this size house below, this was a fav design for me.  Google mini living - it is an environmentally great thing and transportable (so you don't need a permit to construct.)  The originator has a great book and a very neat hour long youtube worth watching.  That is why this little white home spoke to me.  Contemplating this type of living for retirement.

And how great would an outside claw tub be!  Ummm I guess Arizona (Sedona-ish) not where I live in Ontario with 3 feet of snow! (unless of course I had a hot tub beside it! haha)
o

and VOILA the final collage piece!

Enjoy!

FRIDAY FILL- INS

Roben-Marie Smith - one of my bestie artists has this wonderful thing she does on Friday's.  It is called "Friday Fill-In's."
You have to read hers, they are SO creative and wonderful.

Today she invited us to join along with her on this wonderful site.    Thanks Roben-Marie.  Your generousity matches your kindness!

So here I go.

1. Oh, that sure is frustrating when your son's night away is cancelled at the last minute!

2. It's a sure sign of over-spending when you get nervous to pick up the mail.

3. Are we having that same old spagetti recipe again??!.

4. My heart jumps with joy each time I hear my cub's voices on the telephone!

5. Do you believe in psychic abilities?  I do!

6. I'm a totally happy and thankful person.  Apple is replacing my swimming iphone for $79.00!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching my PVR saved TV shows, finishing my blog and, tomorrow my plans include going to an all day scrapping event and Sunday, I want to be on time to trade my yucky android for an ipad 2.  Yay Kijiji!

Now, that wasn't so bad!!!
Thanks Roben-Marie.
